Finished (Article)

So many people think of the Resurrection (when Jesus comes back) as the day when everything will be made right–when all of their problems will finally be gone.

As if Jesus is returning in His second coming to right every wrong, to heal everything that is broken and dry every tear. Ever heard that before?

I will tell you, this is some of the worst doctrine in the body of Christ. Why? It shows the cross as an ineffective, unproductive and useless thing. If you’re waiting for Jesus to fix ANYTHING in His second coming, you’re saying that He didn’t accomplish it in His first! People don’t want to hear that all of the time, but that’s the truth.

So wait, are we saying that Jesus will accomplish nothing in His second coming? Are we saying that Jesus’ only accomplishments were in His first coming, at the cross?? That’s exactly what we’re saying. Jesus will accomplish nothing in His second coming. He has already sat down. Everything is already complete.

But why does the Bible say this about Jesus’ second coming?

Revelation 21:4-6 (NKJV) And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying… And He said to me, “It is done!

Hmm, well this verse seems to be saying that in Jesus’ second coming He will finish off death, sorrow and crying, right? Well, do you see the words “It is done” at the end of the verse? That word “done” is the word ‘Ginomai.” That word means “to come to pass or come into being.” This word is also used of “birth” and “manifestation” in the Bible (Gal. 4:4).

So when Jesus comes back again, Revelation 21 says Jesus will say “It has come into being/manifestation.” But look at the wording used when Jesus was hanging on the cross:

John 19:30 (NKJV) So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

The word Jesus used here on the cross is “teleo” not “ginomai.” “Teleo” means “to end, to complete.” So on the cross Jesus said “It is completed, ended.”

The truth is, Jesus said “It is finished” at the cross. And it is in fact ALL finished. All of your problems have been taken care of. Even all the problems of your loved ones… taken care of. Jesus didn’t miss anything! He took what you and everyone else in this world deserved ONE TIME at the cross. And finished that payment there, having provided you with everything He has. Thus, once and for all ending death, decay, sorrow and anything tear provoking. It HAS been dealt with and taken care of for you. Finished! Teleo!

In Jesus’ second coming, the only thing that will happen, *for any believer who has not already experienced Jesus’ work in full*, all the things that were TELEO (finished) at the cross will be manifested (Ginomai) in them at the end of the age. Thus, only experiencing the things that had ALWAYS been available since the cross!

At the cross Jesus said “Finished.” At the end of the age Jesus only says “It’s come into being/manifestation.”

Don’t be tricked by the doctrine of the devil, waiting for a day of rectification! Jesus’ work for you is finished. Just listen to Him so you can learn all that you have been richly given to enjoy (1 Tim 6:17). And with that, I’ll leave you with these last two verses (read carefully):

John 11:23-25 (NKJV) [brackets mine] Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her [correcting her], “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

And the Lord says of “the promise land” (a picture of our inheritance)…

Hebrews 4:6-7 (NKJV) Since therefore it remains that some must enter it… He designates a certain day, saying in David, “TODAY…”

Enjoy having been taken care of 2,000 years ago. He’s already sitting. Why not sit down too? Sit down and listen to His wonderful work. Because all of it is finished.
