With everything going on in the world today, we thought it would be a good idea to show a godly, biblical perspective on racism. We hear opinions on the news and elsewhere, but it would be good to hear a biblical perspective on it. This article will address racism from it’s source.
It’s no news that there is racism in the world today. But on the media today and in politics at large, the word “racism” is dramatically overused and is generally only used for white people. The truth is, all people (black, brown, white, etc.) are prone to prejudices and evils of all kinds. Black people are just as prone to be racist as white people. That is completely politically incorrect today, but that’s the biblical truth. All people have the same flesh (unless a Christian is glorified already) and all flesh is evil by itself. There are not varying different degrees of evil in people. All human flesh was born of Adam and all human flesh is just as prone to be racist and prejudice as the next. We can call out racism when we see it, but it is hypocritical and shows no integrity when we think racism is a white thing. There is one flesh and one blood and apart from Jesus it is full of all the same evil.
1 Corinthians 15:39 (KJV) All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts…
Galatians 5:19-20 (KJV) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these… hatred…
Regardless of the color of your skin, apart from Jesus, All flesh is prone to evil. That evil does not vary based on the color of your skin. There are white people that are prejudice against black people for whatever reason, and there are black people that are prejudice against white people. Many times, black people are prejudice against white people because white people have been prejudiced to them. All people apart from Jesus have the same flesh. And all propensities that people have our common to every man and woman.
1 Corinthians 10:13 (KJV) There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man…
Don’t get me wrong, I know that black people have historically had it much harder in this country than white people. That’s a fact. Thank God that systematic slavery and segregation has been greatly purged from America’s laws and system. But whether you feel a certain race has had the upper hand or the short end of the stick, racism is racism and evil is evil. All flesh is prone to these things. It is not a white problem. All people need Jesus in the same way, because there’s only one kind of sin that spread to every man through Adam.
Romans 5:12 (KJV) Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned…
You may not feel the same way, but examine this: do you feel the way you feel because of your experience? Or do you feel the way you feel because God has formed your opinions with biblical proof? You need to form your opinions based on what God says and not your experience. God doesn’t teach you through your experiences, he teaches you by his Spirit.
We don’t have a white problem in this country and we don’t have a black problem. We’ve got a bunch of people that are in bondage to sin (the same sin) regardless of the color of their skin. And we’ve got a whole bunch of people that need to know Jesus.
