It seems like many, if not most Christians, believe that God controls everything in the universe. They feel that God can intervene in situations wherever and whenever He wants. The only way a person can believe this (and I mean the only way), is to first believe that God can communicate good things to mankind apart from Jesus — simply because He feels like it.
The false sovereignty of God message is a message that says, “God can communicate things to human beings whenever He feels like it. After all, He’s God.” And if that is true, then we are saying that Jesus’ atonement and faith in that atonement is not at all necessary to receive from God. He can just heal, bless, raise up, and tear down as He wills, not necessarily because anyone believed in Jesus.
The truth is, even though God is all powerful, God is also completely just (Romans 3:26). And the only just way for a holy God to communicate good things to mankind is: Through Jesus’ atonement, through faith in that atonement. Period. There are no exceptions to that, otherwise Jesus is not the only way to receive from God.
John 14:6 (NKJV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way… No one comes to the Father except through Me.
Romans 5:1-2 (NKJV) …Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace…
God is not in control of everything. He’s in control to the extent that we put faith in Jesus. And only through faith in Jesus can God work His good will in our lives (Acts 3:16).
For anyone that would disagree, I would say this: If God really controls everything, then I must be speaking by the will of God anyway. So, you cannot refute this. Otherwise, you would be refusing the will of God.
