We’ve been discussing how we are just like Jesus now. Inside of you, you have everything Jesus has, you feel everything Jesus feels, you think everything Jesus thinks. No exceptions (1 John 2:20, Hebrews 12:23).
If you really knew that you could compare yourself to Jesus, and relate to everything He has (1 John 4:17), then you would know that you feeling inferior is like saying that Jesus should feel inferior. And do you think that’s ever going to happen? Of course not. And why? Because you know He’s at the top of the food chain! He is given a position above everybody else. The problem is, your average Christian does not compare themselves to Him!
Ephesians 1:20, 2:6 (KJV) …and set him [Jesus] at his own right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named… and made us sit together [we have the same position] in heavenly places in Christ Jesus…
I’m not saying you deserved this of yourself, but you still have it, because Jesus paid for it!
When jealousy, envy, or inferiority come in, it’s because you’re comparing yourself to someone else, instead of comparing yourself to Jesus. That’s it. There is no other reason. If you compared yourself to Jesus and realized you were exactly like Him, who else would be worth comparing yourself to?
You’re at the top of your game, you’re in your everlasting prime, and there’s no good thing you don’t have. On top of all that, you have full access to manifest all these things (John 11:40). The day that Jesus can no longer say those things about Himself, is the day that you must stop as well. But don’t hold your breath. It might be a while! Until then, thank God that you’ve been made exactly like your brother Jesus (Hebrews 2:11)!
Comparison is a great thing as long as you’re comparing yourself to the right Person. Remember that.
