We Don’t Need Revival (Article)

When people don’t seem to be enthusiastic about God, when things feel “dry“ (as they say), or if nothing much seems to be happening in our lives, what does the church say? “We need revival!” That’s the church’s word for needing a move of God to spice things up again! And as much as God has nothing against reviving people, we simply don’t understand, that for every believer, you’ve already been revived!

It is not biblically sound for a Christian to ask God for revival. To revive something would mean to make it alive again. And the Bible says you’ve already been given the life of God inside of you, the same as Jesus!

Ephesians 2:5 (NKJV) …even when we were dead in trespasses, [God] made us alive together with Christ

This is all throughout scripture. You don’t actually need revival. Whenever you say that, you’re asking the Lord to give you life again. The life and power of God are already yours and sitting there inside of you. If something feels dry or dead, it’s not because you need to be revived. You’re just not realizing the life you already have.

Nothing More To Send

When people ask God for revival they are usually asking God to send something or pour out His Spirit in a new way. But the Bible says that you already have every single blessing that God could ever give, inside of you.

Ephesians 1:3, 18 (NKJV) Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with EVERY spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ… The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know… the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints

You have already been given everything! You’ve been redeemed from everything in this world, and you’ve been given all things that pertain to life and godliness!

2 Peter 1:3-4 (NKJV) as His divine power has given to us [past tense] all things that pertain to life and godliness… having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

You don’t need revival. By far, no! All you need is a realization of what you already have. The only reason — and I mean the only reason — why things ever feel dry or dead is because you do not realize what you already have in Christ! Not because God needs to send you something else! If you knew what you already had living inside of you, things could not feel dry. You would feel full, knowing that everything was already finished at the cross, and that you’ve received every blessing God could ever give! When you know it, you’ll feel it!

Already Fresh

You don’t need something new or fresh from God! You don’t need a fresh move of God, you don’t need an outpouring of His spirit, and you don’t need a new start. You are already new. You just need to behold it! Pay close attention to the word “behold” in this next verse:

2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV) Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; BEHOLD, all things have become new.

God told you that all things are already new, but He didn’t stop there. He implores us to behold it! If you’re not beholding or realizing the new things you have (as is true for most Christians) then things will certainly not feel new! They’ll feel dry and old.

So you don’t need a fresh move of God or a fresh outpouring of anything. You’ve already got as much “freshness” as one can have. It’s inside of you right now, and God just wants you to behold it.

But if we have everything we need living inside of us already, why does our life not reflect that sometimes? That’s simple. It’s not that you need God to send something more to you. You just need what you already have inside of you to manifest. And that will happen once you start beholding it and getting to know what’s in you.

2 Peter 1:2 (NKJV) Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord…

You’ve already got all the grace of God, all His blessings, and all His peace inside of you. Inside, you look just like Jesus. You’re perfect (Hebrews 12:23). It just needs to be multiplied to you (that means manifest on the outside). These things are manifest to you by you getting to know what the Lord has already done! Not what He’s going to do!

It Is Finished

When Jesus said, “It is finished,“ He wasn’t kidding. God doesn’t need to do anything more for you. As a believer, you’ve already got everything that Jesus provided inside of you. But if we are walking around asking God to send us something, asking God for revival, or asking God for a fresh outpouring of His spirit, that shows a severe lack of knowledge. And it is that lack of knowledge that is actually hindering the manifestation of God in our lives.

It’s the knowledge of what Jesus has already done, what you already have, what is already inside of you that makes it manifest. That is quite different from asking God to send you something else!

Philemon 1:6 (NKJV) …that the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.

It’s not that you need something new or fresh from God. All the contrary, you just need the new and fresh things inside of you to manifest and become effectual! And you make them effectual simply by acknowledging them!

Once we get to know what we have in Christ, it changes our lives and our feelings. But don’t expect anything to manifest while we’re crying to heaven for a fresh move of God! And don’t expect anything to manifest while we’re pleading for the revival of believers, who are already made alive! You see, it’s not pleading for revival that manifests the spirit in our lives, but rather an acknowledgment of all the good things that are ALREADY inside of us! It’s not looking to what God will supposedly do in the future, but what God has already finished for us in the past!

Bonus Information

You don’t need got to send anything. You’ve got everything inside of you. And for those that are interested, God represents these truths in symbols through the Bible as well.

Did you know that when the people passed through the Jordan river, that is a symbol of how we receive the Holy Spirit? The word Jordan means “descender.“ So that day the people received the “descending river“ (symbolic of the Holy Spirit). And after they passed through the river, the manna that they had been receiving from heaven stopped. The Bible says that from that day on, they now ate “the old corn,” which literally means “the stored corn.” This is symbolic. Once you receive the Holy Spirit (that descending river), you don’t need to receive anything more from heaven above you. Everything that you receive from God now comes from what is inside of you, in storage. No more bread from heaven above, now you receive from what’s stored within you.

Another account that is parallel to this, is when the earth was flooded in Noah’s time. The flood, which rained down from heaven, is also a picture of us receiving the Holy Spirit (1 Peter 3:21). And what do you know? After the waters came down, the Bible says that “the windows of heaven were stopped”. Just like the manna stopped. Again, this shows that once you receive the Holy Spirit you don’t need to receive anything more from heaven above you. You don’t need anything more to be sent to you. It’s all inside of you and simply waiting to manifest.

You don’t need revival. You just need to realize how alive you already are!
