The Holy Spirit Is Happy For A Reason (Quick Read)

It’s true that joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit of Jesus is always happy and He can produce that through you as well (Galatians 5:22). But the Spirit isn’t just happy. He’s happy for a reason! Notice that even when Jesus rejoiced, in the joy of the Spirit, He assigned a reason for it:

Luke 10:21 (NKJV) In that hour Jesus rejoiced in the Spirit and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and revealed them to babes.

The context is not so important now, but notice the fact that when Jesus experienced the joy of the Spirit, He immediately thanked God for something. This is because the joy of the Spirit is never baseless or for no reason. God is always rejoicing for a reason. Even when Jesus advises people to be of good cheer, He tells them the reason for it. Because there’s always a reason.

Luke 8:48 (NKJV) And He said to her, “Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Matthew 9:2 (NKJV) …He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.”

Even if we don’t realize it, God knows how well His Son has worked for you at the cross. He knows how thoroughly He has fixed your problems. And He knows how fortunate that makes your future if you will believe it. So the Spirit of God is immensely happy, but He has a reason!

Now allow me to leave you with this thought: If the Holy Spirit is so happy, because of everything He knows that Jesus did for you, what happens if you see the same thing He’s seeing? If you see what He’s seeing, you’ll feel like He feels. If you realize what He realizes, you’ll rejoice the same way He does. And that’s why He wants to show you the truth. Because it will make you as happy as He is.

1 John 1:4 (NKJV) And these things we write to you that your joy may be full.
