There’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking help from natural resources. As we grow in our knowledge, we all do it. Even if it’s as common as eating, drinking, and clothing ourselves from the cold – these are all natural things that we use to help us until our mind is fully renewed.
The problem is not with using the temporal help (and I mean temporal help) that natural things can give. The problem is when we only feel we can prosper or do well as long as those natural things are in place. Then, we have gone from using a natural thing for temporal help as we grow, to trusting in that natural thing. And in that case, we are limiting ourselves to the help that natural things can give, instead of what the power of God can produce.
Ultimately, the problem is not with how frequently we use a natural thing. The problem is our thinking. If we think within the confines of natural things, then we will always live within those confines. If we would acknowledge the infinite resources of the spirit of God inside of us, then we will begin living in those things. It really is as simple as that.
Romans 8:6 (NKJV) For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
Until your body is glorified and working fully in the power of God, you should continue to eat and drink. But you don’t need to think that your bodily potential is limited to food and drink. You have the same power that currently sustains the body of Jesus. And He doesn’t have to eat, drink or sleep! If you keep thinking like that, that same power will begin to work in you as well!
This principle goes for any natural thing — medicine, wheelchairs, food, drink — it doesn’t matter. Go ahead and use it for as long as you need it, but the power of God inside of you is certainly not limited to it! The only thing that would limit you is your thinking. But if you think in accordance with the spiritual richness you’ve been given, you will walk more and more in those things!
You don’t hinder the power of God even a little bit by USING a natural thing. You limit the power of God by THINKING within the confines of those natural things! It’s a thinking problem that people have, not a problem with using the thing itself.
