If Things Feel “Off” (Quick Read)

If things are just feeling “off” in your life, don’t believe any of these common misconceptions in the church…

You’re not going through a dry season,

You’re not on a plateau,

You’re not going through the valley,

You’re not in the storm,

You don’t need revival,

You don’t need a fresh touch from God, 

You’re not demonically oppressed,

You’re not doing spiritual warfare against the power of the Devil,

You’re not backslidden,

You don’t need your life rededicated,

You’re not a lukewarm Christian,

You don’t need to get right with God again,

You don’t need to get resaved,

The Holy Spirit isn’t convicting you,

You’re not a prodigal that wandered from God,

And God didn’t leave you.

There are so many terms that the church has for when things don’t feel right, or when things don’t feel quite as good as they used to. But you have to understand, if you have received Jesus, He has made you perfect forever. Your perfection, your cleanliness, your identity, your true wealth, and your closeness with God has never changed. These things are secured through Jesus, not by you. 

If things feel off, what you have hasn’t changed… just your perception of it. And the moment that you begin to understand, or at least remember, who you truly are in Christ, and how good you have it in Him, your feelings will change automatically. It’s just a matter of time. If things feel “off,” it’s not because something is truly “off.” You’re doing great! On the inside of you is all the power, purity, richness, youth, and potential for manifestation that Jesus has! You’ve got a treasure in your earthen body right now (2 Corinthians 4:7)! You’re doing awesome! Things feel “off” simply and solely because our thinking is “off.” And that’s it. 

So let’s stop making up terms for when our emotions feel “off.” Let’s just call it what it is… you forgot how perfect you are in Christ! And let’s leave it at that!
