Definition:

Life, something that makes active (see definition for Life).

Scripture:

John 6:33 (KJV). For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.

Hosea 14:7 (KJV)  They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive [lit. live] as the corn, [or grain] and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

Matthew 4:4 (KJV)  But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Psalms 104:15 (KJV)  And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheneth man’s heart.

Genesis 18:5 (YLT) and I bring a piece of bread, and support [or strengthen] ye your heart…

  • Bread is used as the opposite of stone. “Stone“ can refer to something dead (see definition for Stone).

Matthew 7:9 (KJV)  Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread [life] will he give him a stone [death]?

  • Jesus refers to the healing of many Jews as “the children’s bread.” Healing is just a manifestation of the life of God.

Matthew 15:26, 30 (KJV)  But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.  Verse 30 (KJV)  And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he healed them:
