Defintion:

Something that divides.

Scripture:

  • Sword used as a divider of relationships.

Matthew 10:34-35 (LITV) Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. [35] I came to divide a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a bride against her mother-in-law.

  • Sword used as a divider of thoughts, discerning between correct and incorrect thoughts.

Hebrews 4:12 (KJV) For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Luke 2:35 (KJV) (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed

  • Sword used for Jesus’ word in the last day that will divide between believers and unbelievers. Sword is used interchangeable with a sieve (sifting/dividing certain people in the last day).
